Question Tags

සාමාන්‍යන් "නේද?" යන තහවුරු කර ගැනීමේ පදය ලබා ගැනීමට භාවිතා කරයි.

මෙහිදී සාමාන්‍යන්  Positive sentence සමඟ negative tag එකක්ද, Negative sentence සමඟ Positive tag එකක්ද යොදා ගනී

නිමල් ගුරුවරයෙක් නේද?
Nimal is a teacher, isn't he?

නිමල් ගුරුවරයෙක් නෙමේ නේද?
Nimal isn't a teacher, is he?

ඔවුන් ගුරුවරු නේද?
They are teachers, aren't they?

ඔවුන් ගුරුවරු නෙමේ නේද?
They aren't teachers, are they?

ඔයා ජීවත් වෙන්නෙ ශ්‍රී ලංකාවෙ නේද?
You live in Sri Lanka, Don't you?

ඔයා ජීවත් වෙන්නෙ ශ්‍රී ලංකාවෙ නෙමේ  නේද?
You don't live in Sri Lanka, Do you?

ඇය ජීවත් වෙන්නෙ ශ්‍රී ලංකාවෙ නේද?
She lives in Sri Lanka, Doesn't she?

ඇය ජීවත් වෙන්නෙ ශ්‍රී ලංකාවෙ නෙමේ නේද?
She doesn't live in Sri Lanka, Does she?

මම හොඳ මිනිහෙක් නේද?
I'm a good man, aren't I?

මම හොඳ මිනිහෙක් නෙමේ නේද?
I'm not a good man, am I?

ඔයාට පීනන්න පුලුවන් නේද?
You can swim, can’t you?

ඔයාට පීනන්න බෑ නේද?
You can't swim, can you?

Let’s සමඟ "shall we" tag යෙදේ.

අපි මුහුදු වෙරළට යමු නේද?
Let’s go to the beach, shall we?

Never, Seldom, Hardly, Nobody, No, Scarcely, little Nothing.. වැනි පද සමඟ Negative අර්තයක් ගැබ් වී ඇති වාක්‍ය වල Positive tag එකක් යොදා ගනී.

ඇය කවදාවත් හිනා උනේ නෑ නේද?
She never smiled, did she?

ඔයා කලාතුරකින් ඉරිදා වැඩ කරනව නේද?
You seldom work on Sundays, do you?  ✔      You seldom work on Saturdays, don't you?  ✘

මේ ගෙදර කවුරුවත් ජීවත් වෙන්නෙ නෑ නේද?
Nobody lives in this house, do they?

එයාට හේතු කීපයක් තියෙනව නේද නැවතිල ඉන්න?
He has few reasons for staying, has he?

Nothing bad happened, did it?

It's no good, is it?

It's hardly rained at all this summer, has it?

Used to සමඟ "did", “didn’t” යොදා ගනී.

You used to work here, didn’t you?

You used not to like him, did you?

විධාන සමඟ "will you" යොදා ගනී.

ජනේලෙ වහන්නකො
Close the window, will you?

Don't සමඟ "Will you" tag යෙදේ.

Don't be late, Will you?

Some examples with should, could, must ...

He shouldn't be doing that, should he?

It must be nice to be a dog, mustn't it?

We ought to wake Nimal, oughtn't we?
We ought to wake Nimal, shouldn't we? (American English)

You couldn't give me a bag, could you?

විශ්මය දනවන අවස්ථා වලදී  positive tag යොදා ගනී.

So you're getting married, are you? How nice!
